None of these places are in the guidebook. Two quiet, local-favorite restaurants — both within walking distance of Hakata Station. Your guide Miki curates the evening based on what's open, what's in season, and what you'll love. About an hour at each. You'll sit at the counter. Watch the chef work. Taste raw mackerel cured in sesame, seasonal sashimi, and sōmen noodles to finish — Hakata's culinary story, told one plate at a time. There's no rush. Time to order a third dish. That's how this evening flows. No Japanese needed. Whether you're a solo traveler or a couple — the awkward parts (ordering, paying, asking questions) are all handled by Miki. You just relax and eat. Not a tour. An evening with a local friend.
Quick intro with Miki, plus a short story about Kyushu's food culture.
Sashimi, seasonal small plates. Sake or beer to start. A full hour at the counter.
5–10 minutes through Hakata's evening streets, talking about what's coming next.
Signature dish + a noodle finish. Paired sake, room for another round. Slow and full.
🍶 看板コースMiki gives you "Hakata at Night" — a hand-drawn map for the rest of your trip. Want to keep going? She'll point you to her favorite late-night ramen.
