Many people living in Japan rarely have the opportunity to experience traditional Japanese culture such as kimono and the tea ceremony.

Historically, tea rooms were much more than places to drink tea. They served as social gathering spaces where people shared meals, enjoyed sake, exchanged ideas, and deepened relationships. Samurai, merchants, and cultural leaders gathered through tea gatherings to connect with one another and appreciate the beauty of Japanese aesthetics and hospitality.

I believe this spirit remains deeply relevant today.

That is why I created aya — a modern tea room where people can connect through sake, matcha, and meaningful conversation while experiencing the beauty of Japan’s seasons, culture, and traditions.

My hope is that every guest leaves with a deeper appreciation of Japanese culture and a memorable experience that becomes part of their journey in Japan.
